Shacharit: 6:45am – Remember to say Hallel at Shacharit
Yom Yerushalayim Program / Pre Shabbos Ruach zoom will be at 5:00 pm with Ilan Eckhardt, a dvar torah from YU-ASKT Fellow Tamar Yastrab and some amazing footage from the 6 Day War.
Mincha: 7:00 pm is our regular time for accepting Shabbat. However, as there is no regular minyan so one can start Shabbos as early as Plag HaMincha which is at 6:43 pm If you want to start Shabbat that early the best is to daven Mincha before 6:43 pm and start Shabbat after that. If you want to do a late Shabbat you can light at regular time.
Candle Lighting: 7:58pm
Mincha - Ashrei (232) Amidah (234) and Aleinu (252)
Kabbalat Shabbat (308) at Home. Make sure to dress up nice and to sing!! Pick a nice tune or two for Lechah Dodi (316).
We skip Bameh Madlikin (322) and go straight to Maariv (330). (No Barchu is said)
We say the paragraph of Vayechulu (346) and then skip the next three paragraphs and say Aleinu (350) and Vayigdal (12)
Friday Night Meal – Make sure to sing and give divrei Torah! Shalom Aleichem 354, Aishet Chayil 358, and Kiddush 360 followed by HaMotzi.
Omer: Count 43 (284 & 286)
Shabbat, May 23 - Bamidbar
Shacharit: daven at 9:00am (Shema should be recited before 9:04 am and the Amidah before 10:19 am)
Following Shacharit –the Parsha of Bamidbar should be read from a Chumash.
Following that, one should read the Special Haftorah of Machar Chodesh (tomorrow is Rosh Chodesh (Shmuel I 20:18-42)
Back to the Siddur – You could now say the mi-Shebeirach for the ill (442) and the mi-Shebeirach for Tzahal (444). Remember to say the first Yekum Purkan (448) only. Remember to say the prayers for the government and the State of Israel (450).
We now say the Birkat HaChodesh (452) for the month of Sivan. The Molad was Friday, May 22nd 42 minutes and 13 chalokim after 11 am. We say "Rosh Chodesh Sivan Yihiyeh Biyom Rishon, Haba Aleinu viAl Kol Yisrael LiTovah"
There is a widespread custom to start studying Pirkei Avot Shabbat afternoons until Rosh HaShana – this week is Chapter Six.
Mincha: 7:55 pm (502) Ashrei and Uva Litzion. Followed by Amidah for Mincha Shabbat (514).
Maariv (256). Remember to add the special insertion in the blessing of binah as part of the Amidah (268). We say Vihi Noam (p. 594) followed by counting the Omer: 44 (284 and 286) Aleinu (280)

Wednesday night, May 27 Rabbi Kalmar will be giving a class at 7 pm entitled "Revelation, Suffering and the Flesh and Blood Messiah" which will be followed by some of the best speakers at Yeshiva University. Shabbat Afternoon Walking Visits - We will be trying to organize afternoon walking visits in Glendale to our members. Walkers will be coming by at around between 1-5pm and knocking on a door or window (with a gloved hand) and then backing up to a nice safe (10 foot or more) socially distant place so you can either wave from the window or come to your door and say hello. |
